Elsewhere there are first-time involvements for London Irish duo Henry Arundell and Will Joseph along with Leicester Tigers’ Jack van Poortvliet. There are 10 uncapped players and seven with more than 50 caps including a return for Mako Vunipola.

As the Gallagher Premiership season reaches its climax Jones has chosen to rest some players for the training camp.

“We’re going to use this camp as an opportunity to prepare a base game for the Barbarians fixture and for a really important Australia tour,” he said. “We’ll focus on how we want to play, how we want to be as a team off the field and continue to develop the squad cohesiveness and behaviours.

“It is also 16 months to the World Cup and every minute counts. We want a hard-working and enjoyable environment for the players and make sure we are all on the same page. We are allowed a squad of 36 players, so it has been a balancing act.

“We want to take a look at some younger players and prepare a base camp for the Barbarians game, particularly as we will be without the Premiership finalists, and also give some senior players a rest as we get to a crucial part of the season. These players will still be in contention for the Australia tour.”

England will host Barbarians at Twickenham Stadium on Sunday 19 June (3pm KO). Tickets are available for the game from £25 for adults and £12 for under 16s. The match is live on Amazon Prime Sport.

They will then travel to Australia to face the Wallabies in Perth (Saturday 2 July, 11.05am BST KO), Brisbane (Saturday 9 July, 11.05am BST KO) and Sydney (Saturday 16 July, 11.05am BST KO). All matches will be live on Sky Sports.

Samoa announce coaching staff and selection policy for match against the Barbarians

Samoa’s rugby clash against the Barbarians for the Killik Cup at Twickenham on November 27, will be from a selected team to take the field in London, drawn from profile coaches and Samoan players based mainly in Europe, but also Australia, New Zealand, Japan and USA.

The Barbarian’s game is the only match to be played from the recently cancelled tour of Europe due to Covid-19 implications. The trip north proved too difficult for some management and squad of players from the southern hemisphere, with health and safety of everyone being prioritized especially upon returning home.

An overseas based Coaching and Management team has been selected, and Head Coach, Vaovasamanaia Seilala Mapusua is confident with the selected coaching group.

“I am very pleased to be able to call the services of coaches that are plying their trade overseas and have an intimate knowledge of the Manu Samoa environment,” said Vaovasamanaia.

“The challenges that the Pandemic has given us, have also created opportunity for me to grow our people in these key roles and to make sure that we are able to get our Manu Samoa on the field, as well as launch our new partnership with apparel sponsor Castore.” He added.

“Given the nature of the Barbarians, this should prove to be a highly entertaining game and a fantastic opportunity to round off the Autumn Internationals in style.”

Plans for up to 20,000 fans at England v Barbarians Rugby Tickets have gone on sale for the England v Barbarians match at Twickenham on Sunday 25 October, with hopes that up to 20,000 fans will be able to attend.

The Quilter Cup match, which was due to take place earlier in the year and has had to be rescheduled because of the pandemic, will take place the day after the Gallagher Premiership final and a week before England travel to Italy for their final match of the 2020 Six Nations.

The RFU are working on plans to have up to 20,000 spectators at the match – less than 25% of Twickenham’s 82,000 capacity – but it is still subject to approval.

The safety measures that will be put in place include increased staff to manage social distancing, mandatory face coverings except when in assigned seats or eating/drinking, one-way systems and hand sanitisers throughout the stadium.

Those with existing bookings for the original England v Barbarians fixture will have the first opportunity to get tickets for the rearranged date, followed by First XV members on 7 September. If there are still remaining tickets available, they will be put on public sale from 8 September at englandrugby.com/tickets
